I police dogs they are at the service of citizens, catching criminals, discovering loads of drugs and so on and so forth.
Often, however, their life is in danger and need immediate and special assistance. To remedy the problem, a new reality was born within the State Police.
The clinical center
Il March 14, 2023 was inaugurated in Milano the first Veterinary Infirmary within a Police Headquarters Italian. A uniformed veterinary doctor will ensure the care and routine visits of the dogs and horses of the State Police.
The veterinary center has opened its doors inside the Annarumma barracks of the third mobile department. He will be there to take care of the animals Alessiain charge of the infirmary e doctor in uniform, which will follow the police dogs and horses between vaccines to be done, check-ups, laboratory tests and diagnostics. He also attended the inauguration ceremony Gaetano Penocchio, President of the National Federation of Italian Veterinary Orders (FNOVI), who congratulated the decision and commitment made to safeguard animal welfare.
Not just the opening
During the presentation in Milan, Police Chief Petronzi took advantage of the opportunity to award Platone, a German Shepherd who retired after more than 6 years of service in the State Police.
