In Phoenix, Arizona, a car was stolen after its owner got out only briefly. Much worse than the theft of the vehicle, it was the disappearance of the dog inside that caused anxiety among the volunteers and the foster family waiting for her.

A shelter dog has been found and recovered safe and sound, hours after being abducted while being taken to her foster family, reports 12News.
For 13 years, Hilary O’Kelley voluntarily takes care of transporting shelter dogs to their new homes. She had never had an incident until Sunday, August 21. That day, she took Rosie2-year-old Berger cross, with her foster family in Tucsonin Arizona.

Rosie had just narrowly escaped euthanasia at the California shelter where she lived. According to Melanie Epsteinher volunteer foster mother, “ they have to euthanize 5 dogs every week, because they have no more room in the host structure in question. The dog was on the list. His placement in a foster family therefore saved his life.
Hilary O’Kelley had installed Rosie in his car to make the trip to take him to Tucsonbut while she was at Phoenixabout 150 kilometers from their destination, the unthinkable happened.
She only got out of her vehicle briefly, then when she returned, it was no longer there. We had just stolen it when Rosie was inside.
Found tied up in front of a store
The police were alerted and a search was launched. For several hours, everyone did not know where Rosie could well be found. The more time passed, the more the concern intensified among those who tirelessly sought the dog.
She was eventually found and rescued. Rosie had been left tied up in front of a store in Mesaabout twenty kilometers from Phoenix. The car has still not been located.

The female dog was able to join Melanie Epstein and start a new stage of his life. Law enforcement is continuing their investigation.
