15-Year-Old Dog Returned to Shelter for 2nd Time Offered a Loving Home for Her Old Age

The ordeal of abandonment is difficult for animals to overcome. Also, returning to the kennel can be heartbreaking, especially after a decade. This is the sad story experienced by Netty, an adorable 15-year-old dog, before being adopted again by a caring family.

Netty stayed at the shelter Pennsylvania SPCA (United States) for the first time at the age of 2 then was taken in by a couple in 2010. She had happy days, until he decided to abandon her because of her incontinence problems.

The members of the association were saddened to see her among them. The veterinarian who examined her detected a painful urinary tract infection responsible for her bedwetting. With adequate treatment, however, these inconveniences were quickly forgotten.

However, Netty was devastated by this 2nd rejection. “His general demeanor was quite depressed”said Gillian Kocherdirector of public relations for the association, at Newsweek.

An SOS on social networks

It was obvious that the dog was not coping with her new condition and the volunteers feared that she would be ignored by potential adopters because of her advanced age. “Instead of focusing on what had happened and feeling sorry for ourselves, we chose to focus on how to give him the best last days”said a spokesperson.

They therefore posted a call for help on social networks, which, fortunately, was heard by a family.

Amy Kidda veterinary doctor from West Chesterher husband and children wished to provide her with all the love she needed. “Our ultimate goal is to cherish and spoil her every day she has left. She will now be treated like the queen she is.”told Amy.

Netty therefore integrated his new quarters and met his 2 congeners also from a rescue as well as the tomcats of the home. “She immediately fell asleep on the sofa with my daughter surrounded by our 6 house cats”said the adopter.
