The story of Dante, the Husky who died “of sadness” after his master

Dante and Nova were Victor and Eliot’s Huskies, and they were all very happy together. However, in a short period of time, Víctor lost two of his loved ones, before him her boyfriend would die and a few days after his dog Dante.

The final diagnosis from Dante’s vet was clear: the dog died “of sadness”. Pain can so overwhelm a dog that “his defenses drop and he becomes ill within days,” Victor said on Twitter.

It was then that the young man realized what had really happened.

“I think Dante decided to follow the love of my life when he died. Dante was 8 years old, he was a very healthy dog, never got sick and always had a lot of energy».

Victor explains that his boyfriend and Dante were very close. «Eliot spoiled him very much and Dante was very affectionate with him».

Upon Eliot’s death, Victor described how his Huskies were doing:

“They watched me cry, I tried to be strong for them, but I couldn’t. One day I sat down with them, cuddled them and told them that Eliot loved them very much, that he would take care of them from then on.’

Dante’s legs begin to give way

A few days later, Victor noticed something strange about Dante when it was time to take him for a walk. In his opinion, it seemed that his paws were asleep. He went to the vet who performed various types of tests, advising him to keep an eye on the animal.

Dante seemed to improve. So Victor went back to work the next day. Before leaving the house, he gave him a few caresses and said hello. Dante wagged his tail and the boy went away happy because the four-legged seemed to be much better.

Dante’s farewell

That was his Goodbye. When he came home, Dante was dead.

“My whole soul ached,” Victor confessed. Despite the pain, he wanted to understand the dog’s plan:

“To accompany Eliot to the afterlife so as not to leave him alone, and Nova, who was Eliot’s heart, had stayed with me.”

For Víctor it is a consolation that «wherever they are, in heaven or in another universe, they are together».

And he concludes:

«I miss you and love you with all my heart».
