The beloved cat Filippo is a Carthusian who has kept Costanzo company for over 8 years. Maurizio was in fact a great animal lover and even during his funeral they wanted to remember this wonderful aspect of the journalist’s life.
Costanzo’s love for animals
Even if Costanzo was known to be a dog lover since he was a child, as he himself tells in the book I prefer dogs (and a cat)the love for cats was born by chance after adopting Filippo.
The journalist he saw in his cat a bit of himselfconsidered himself a kindred spirit to him, describing Filippo as a pragmatic cat who plays when he wants to, and if he is upset he does not hesitate to make it clear.
Costanzo’s love for animals, however, is not limited only to dogs and cats: he believed that every animal species deserves to be observed and understood.
