This little dog was a sight none of her rescuers will ever forget – poor Pit Bull looked like one walking skeleton…
With all the bones visible beneath her skin, it was a miracle she even had a spark of life left.
A Pit Bull in pitiful condition
People who knew her, in Louisiana, USA, were sure that the poor thing hadn’t eaten for at least a month.
And since her conditions were very complicated, the animal had already been placed on the shelter’s “black list” and they were ready to put her down to avoid further suffering.
But it sceriffo Trevor Reeveswho had found it, didn’t give up and dedicated himself to taking care of it Jolenethe name he gave to the dog.
Lots of will to live
Although Jolene was excessively thin, it seemed that she still had the courage to live, because when spoken to, she wagged her tail.
And Trevor was right about his gut decision.
Per three months he lovingly took care of Jolene and after that period the dog was unrecognizable: the malnutrition was no longer evident and the four-legged dog was overflowing with love and joie de vivre!
The sheriff knew it was time to take the next step and contacted the animal welfare organization Villalobos Rescue Centerso they could help him find family ideal for this sweet little furry girl.
A new life
Life had a pleasant surprise in store for Jolene: Among the list of potential adopters was a family that seemed right for her.
They had a spacious ranch, with large grassy areas to run around, trees and other animals. Any dog’s dream!
There was only one issue the sheriff was concerned about: The family lived in New Hampshire and moving from Louisiana would be difficult.
But it was about time luck smiled on Jolene, as the shelter team had a trip to New York at the time.
It was therefore much easier for the family to go there to get the dog!
It seemed to Tia Maria Torres, the head of the rescue team, that it was a sign of fate.
