When, towards the end of November 2022, Amanda Hoodwho works as a coordinator at the animal shelter Calhoun County Humane Societyin Jacksonville, Alabama (USA), noticed a plastic container left in the driveway, she didn’t worry at all.
People often leave donations in front of the shelter for the four-legged animals that live there: blankets, food, toys.
But something is moving in there…
From where she stood, Amanda noticed that something inside the container was moving. She came running and when she lifted the lid she gasped. There were almost one in there dozen puppies!
The container was sealed, but someone had punched two small holes in the lid to prevent the dogs from suffocating.
Despite this, that abandonment was still irresponsible. The 11 little dogs were literally on top of each other, stacked in two layerschilled and frightened.
It’s not known how long the puppies were in there, but seeing as they were in good condition, it’s likely they didn’t stay too long.
All in good condition
Amanda quickly brought the puppies with her to the facility for a better look at and to feed them. The little ones had approx 5 weeks and luckily everyone was fine.
They quickly acclimatised in the shelter and began to lead the typical life of puppiesmade up of play, naps and lots of good food.
The little ones were then transferred to a shelter in Illinois, where the staff will do everything to send them to one happy life with a family that will love them forever.
Unfortunately it was not possible to identify the author of the abandonment.
