A girl said she saw the white van. However, a man said his daughter took her two dogs out as usual, when three dog thieves cut the leash holding the smaller dog and tried to run away with it. The girl reacted and she would be attacked with a punch to her face.

Then, again, another girl claimed that her partner was attacked by two criminals but luckily he managed to escape while also saving his dog.

Alarms that are triggering the white van psychosis to the point that there are people who have proposed organizing night patrols, prohibited by law.

Pending possible official investigations by the forces of order, the National Animal Protection Body of the Rome section also intervened on the matter, providing some tips to protect our animal friends from possible thefts:

• «Our advice is to look after and protect your animals, keeping them on a leash.
• Don’t isolate yourself on walks.
• Do not leave animals in the garden without supervision and when you are away.
• Do not leave them while shopping outside the shops and supermarkets.
• Caution, common sense and attention in general.
• However, reporting is the possibility to help the institutions monitor the territory ».

In addition to this, in case of doubts, we advise you to always refer to the local animal protection bodies and be careful of the messages circulating on social networks which could only spread unnecessary alarmism.
