indictment for offenders

The owner of a cat who went on vacation in August came to pick up his cat entrusted to a couple via the website Animalin.

He offered his pet sitting services for 10 euros a day and the man mistakenly thought that his faithful furry companion would be pampered during his absence.

However, when he showed up at the home located in Rosny-sous-Boisin Seine-Saint-Denisthe budding pet-sitter gave him back a cat that wasn’t his.

The owner therefore asked to visit the apartment, but was refused access. He therefore informed the authorities.

A search that revealed the horror

Tuesday, August 16, the national police landed at the home of the offenders. They discovered 25 cats huddled together in an unsanitary 35 m2 apartment.

“On the spot, there was urine and some droppings on the ground. In addition, the belongings provided by the various owners were piled up and had not been unpacked. In fact, sick cats did not receive their medical treatments and pathologies circulated”said Anne-Claire Chauvancypresident of the association WHAT (Action Protection Animale), at Actu.

In addition, the police got their hands on 30 contracts from the online platform Animalin as well as 7,000 euros in cash.

“Clearly, this platform did not find it strange that a pet-sitter tied 30 custody transactions in a 35 m2 apartment”lamented Anne-Claire Chauvancy.

L’WHAT filed a complaint for ill-treatment. “At 10 euros per day and per feline, it’s a juicy scam”she added.

Today, most tomcats have found their masters. Some of them had to cut their stays short to recover their hairballs.

“Every summer, it’s the same thing. The owners entrust their animals to private individuals who offer no guarantee”has explained Anne-Claire Chauvancy who advises to call in professionals.
