Sami, by his nickname, was part of the large-scale rescue that we told you about on July 27th. The 4,000 canines detained in precarious conditions and suffering from numerous injuries within a dog farm in Virginia had been taken in by various shelters following the administrative closure of the establishment.
As a reminder, 2 senators as well as the association Humane Society of the state of Virginia to United States worked together to rescue 4,000 Beagles, puppies and adults, from breeding In Vigo.
The investigation carried out for several years had revealed that the doggies were abused and neglected before being sold to research laboratories.
A surge of solidarity was then set up to get the canids out of this hell and find them a new home.
Samiwhich was part of the largest rescue ever faced by animal welfare organizations, was adopted by Karen Shrader and her husband. It was obvious that the unfortunate girl had only known life locked in a cage without any interaction with humans.
“The first day, she was very shy, and she asked for a basket in our parental room. She would only venture a few feet from the bed”said Karen at The Dodo.
A discovery every moment
As can be seen in the video, Sami is happy to discover the life of a family dog. In just a few days, her shyness gave way to audacity.
When she put her paws for the first time on the lawn of the garden, she let her joy explode.
“Saturday, she was sprinting and chasing balls. In the breeding facility, she had missed so many things. Now she has everything”rejoiced Karen.
It’s a real pleasure for the couple to see their little protege bloom like this.

“It warms my heart to know that she has come out of a place where she couldn’t be a canine and is now enjoying the freedom to run, play and feel the loving touch of a human!” She got the love from my family and she gives it back to us 1,000 times over”told Karen who hopes that the captured footage will allow other potential adopters to take the plunge. Indeed, many Beagles are still waiting for their homes.
