A man sentenced for leaving his dog alone for 15 days without water or food

Shadow, a young dog, was rescued by the RSPCA in January 2022 following reports from local residents who heard her barking in distress. The unfortunate woman was emaciated and eager for attention when the rescuers arrived. His master appeared in court on August 3, 2022.

Shadow is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a heavy past. She had been abandoned by her owner in his house in Kent (in England) that he had left for almost 2 weeks.

The dog was locked in the kitchen, without enough water and food available.

Justin Stubbsan inspector of the RSPCAhad then informed the police who had authorized the seizure of the animal. “The fact that there was no feces on site seems to suggest that she had eaten them because of the extreme hunger she was experiencing”he lamented at Mirror.

Nevertheless, the emaciated young lady showed affection towards her rescuer. “She was eager for consideration and company”clarified Justin.

Shadow was therefore taken to a shelter where she received treatment that put her back on her feet.

A few months later, she was adopted by a caring and loving couple. She has been flowing for happy days.

A charge for unnecessary suffering inflicted

The clinical examination carried out by the veterinarian revealed that the unfortunate woman must have suffered this nightmare for at least 2 weeks: “I believe she had been in pain for at least 14 days with regards to lack of proper nutrition. She endured severe hunger”the report said.
