A small abandoned dog on the verge of death regains strength thanks to a foster volunteer





Abandonments at shelter doors break the hearts of dedicated volunteers. Steve, a young dog, had to live through hell before a group of individuals dropped him off at 4 a.m. in front of an animal protection association. Since then, he has made great progress and is recovering from his difficult past.

The poor beast, a 4 or 5 year old Chihuahua mix, was in a deplorable state. He weighed less than 3 kilograms and had a serious injury near his tailbone. He was lying in a crate filled with waste, excrement and urine. His chances of survival were so slim that euthanasia was considered.

Nevertheless, his will to live immediately jumped out at the volunteers who wanted to do their utmost to get him out of trouble.

Emergency care and a caring foster family

Steve was transferred the next day to a specialized care unit named From the Heart Animal Rescue au Texas.

The vet gave him a drip to get him the nutrients he needed. In addition, his gaping wound was disinfected and then sutured.

The animal doctor concluded after his medical examination that the young canine did not suffer from any ailment justifying his extreme thinness. It therefore suffered the negligence of its owners before being cowardly abandoned.

Steve thus regained energy and gained almost a kilogram. He blossoms every day a little more alongside his surrogate mother and his congeners.
