The firefighters did a remarkable job by saving this Monday, August 22, a dog who had taken a dizzying fall. The owners were reassured by finding their faithful 4-legged friend safe and sound.
Monday August 22, 2022, a couple and their dog were hiking in Bellecombe-en-Bauges in the department of Savoy. The trio enjoyed a magnificent panorama of the mountains and their forest.
Shortly after 5 p.m., however, the pooch ventured a bit too close to a gate on the devil’s bridge in stone that overlooks the homonymous canyon.
He plummeted almost 50 meters before landing in the water below. Miraculously, the canine of about 15 kilograms managed to swim until it reached a makeshift raft made of branches.
Nevertheless, the poor animal, a black Labrador Retriever mix, was stuck between 2 steep and narrow rock faces of the gorge.
The masters, unable to come down to help him and worried about the survival of their faithful companion, called the firefighters to the rescue.
Several hours of anguish
The GMSP 73 (Mountain Group of Firefighters) intervened in the shortest possible time, reports France Blue Country of Savoy.
An agent put on a harness and abseiled with the help of his teammates to the unfortunate man. He then fitted the doggie with a harness, and the duo was hoisted to dry land in the early evening.

As can be seen on the video, the dog was fortunately safe and sound. His congeners also testified to their joy to find their 4-legged friend after this difficult ordeal.
The masters were finally relieved and warmly thanked the rescuers for their dedication.
An association recalled the importance of keeping your dog on a leash in this type of terrain in order to guarantee its safety.
