We don’t choose the dogs to take care of, we can’t choose who to welcome, who to help, who to save. Every soul entrusted to us is a challenge against fate, whether it’s a puppy or an elderly person, a microbe or a giant, whether healthy or sick, we love them all in the same way or perhaps we love even more those who are fragile, invisible and unfortunate”.
Thus began the poignant post on Facebook by the association’s volunteers We Like Them to introduce their special little guest.
Blaire’s story
The animal welfare association of Tricase, in Pugliatold in a long post the sad story of Blaire, a tripod dog at birth.
Blaire remained tripod during delivery, in the street. Her umbilical cord severed part of her left front leg.
Despite being so small and delicate, Blaire survived and was welcomed into the Apulian kennel with her little brothers, who were all adopted. Everyone but her 😢
For three months the volunteers treated her with antibiotics, without giving her any lack of attention she needed. After that, they then dewormed her and vaccinated.
Soon the little one will face asurgery to remove what’s left of the paw, which causes difficulty in moving, risking injuring herself continuously.
Who will adopt Blaire, the tripod dog?
Blaire has a spectacular character, it is a force of nature, according to the volunteers who follow it. She has already learned to walk with only three legs.
“Disability is in the eye of the beholder. Yes, that’s right, because Blaire is capable of doing everything on her own» the volunteers write.
And they wonder:
“But what will become of her? Who will choose to adopt, save, love a tripod puppy?!».
In itself, adopting a pet should be a well thought out and responsible choice. The adoption of a disabled dog must be even more so and, above all, this will must be born from a heart and a mind free from prejudices.
Who will adopt Blaire?
Blaire as an adult will be a medium sized dog contained and will rely on microchipping and sterilization obligation. It is located in the province of Lecce but can be adopted anywhere.
Unfortunately, for the moment we have been informed that Blaire hasn’t received any adoption requests yet.
«Blaire does not need mercy but freedom», conclude the volunteers.
