To watch it Max he is a very sweet, small and innocent-looking cat. And, in many ways, he really is.
He loves cuddles and caresses and is the favorite of many people who work at the Canadian shelter Oromocto and Area SPCA.
But it also has a side (a lot) naughty. If he doesn’t agree with you, he’ll let you know right away!
Max’s communication strategy is simple but effective. If he’s not happy, this grouchy cat responds with a paw! And don’t even expect an apology afterward.
The shelter volunteers knew it would take a special owner to handle Max. So when it came to finding that feline brawler a new home, they didn’t try to hide his temper.
Instead, they affixed a funny placard (and drastically honest) about Max’s cage which read:
“It’s been __ days since I hit someone for no reason.”
Staff then filled in the blank with the number of days Max went without slapping someone.
It has never exceeded 4 days! Oh yeah! We told you she was insolent!
Brat with a tender heart
Despite his outspoken way of expressing his opinions, shelter staff say that, deep down, Max is a powerhouse of love.
“He’s kind of a crotchety old man,” says the shelter manager Tracy Marcotullio. “If you don’t read his signals right, he’ll slap you. He’s not a bad cat. He’s just overstimulated and when he’s had enough, he’s had enough.”
And it also reveals the Instructions for Use to relate to this very special cat: «The road that leads to his heart is that of a tin or a delicious snack! He’s crazy about these things!”
It has been adopted!
Max’s story has become viral on the web and was picked up by several local news channels. The shelter has received dozens of inquiries about this feisty feline and Max has been adopted!
The owner, whose identity is unknown, fell in love with Max as soon as he met him. And yes, he was too slapped! But how could it be otherwise?
Now we just have to wish a beautiful life to Max and his brave owner!
