In the middle of the night, a man was jolted awake by the incessant barking of his dog.
But those barks saved his life just in time before it was too late. Here is the story of Joel and Maggie.
Escaped the fire thanks to his dog
Joel Rosa vive a Tangerine, in Floridawith her dog, Maggie. Around 3 o’clock one night at the end of July 2021, the four-legged suddenly woke him up by barking insistently.
And for good reason! Because Maggie helped her human out of hers house on firesaving both their lives.
Out of gratitude towards Maggie, Joel told the microphones of 16 WAPT News:
“I love this dog! He’s my hero, he saved my life!”

The causes of the fire
The flames that engulfed the house that night would have been caused by lightning.
“We believe it was storm lightning that struck the house, entering the roof. It’s a very large house and was 80% caught in flames, causing it to partially collapse on one side,” he said. Lisa McDonaldspokesperson for Orange County Fire Rescue.
And keeps going:
“So, the homeowner should definitely thank his pet for waking him up.”
