Historical sentence in Naples: ENPA rejoices

A couple from Naples was doomed to have tail and ears cut off to their dogs. To bring it back is the ENPANational Animal Protection Body, which rejoices at this historic ruling.

Established civil party in the trial of the Court of Naples in which it took part through the lawyers Ricci and Ladogana, ENPA underlined the importance of this sentence:

“Cut off things and ears is equivalent to preventing dogs from expressing themselves”, explains the President of ENPA Carla Rocchi.

The facts

The discovery was made by Carabinieri of Naples Plainwho were on the spot for gods checks on other crimesincluding building violations, and during their searches they noticed two Pit Bulls that had had their tails and ears cut off.

Their promptness of reflexes in reporting the incident was important, because this type of crime is not always identified, as explained by the lawyer Claudia Ricci.

The turn of the sentence

The man and woman accused of committing this crime were sentenced to one year and four months for him and nine months for her.

«These subjects hardly go to trial and even more rarely the defendants are convicted», continues Dr. Ricci.

Cutting off a dog’s tail and ears, in fact, is prohibited by the European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animalsunless the cut is made for healing purposes.

Obviously this was not the case for the couple, whose dogs they had on the body signs of repeated abuse in time.
