Cats of San Bernardino is a non-profit organization located in California (USA) that helps troubled cats.
One day someone warned them that a kitten was in a septic tank and urgently needed their help.
Ferocious kitten
When the rescuer arrived at the scene, she was shown the hole the cat had entered. It was a feral kitten and she was in one puddle of dirty water. She was angry and scared, which made it hard to get her out of there.
Once out of the hole, the kitten was placed in a carrier and the rescuer took her to her home. When the woman took the lid off the carrier, the little one started to blow against her like a lunatic.
It was evident that she was the first human he had to deal with. But that wasn’t the only problem.
Paws paralysed
When the woman lifted her, she realized that her hind legs were lifeless and unresponsive. The little one, which is now called betshe couldn’t even stand up.
Concerned that the kitten might injure her paws, dragging them to move, the woman put her in a soft bag and always carried her with her for a couple of weeks.
And it is in this period that Bastet and his human have made friends and they earned each other’s trust.
Miraculous healing
The rescuer and foster mom started a program of physiotherapy for Bastet and one day, to everyone’s surprise, the kitten bent her knees, which she had never been able to do before.
A couple of days later, the woman heard strange noises. It sounded like someone was eating in the kitchen. And there she found Bastet standing on all fours who happily ate from his bowl.
The woman could not believe her eyes. Since that day, Bastet’s hind legs have gotten stronger and stronger and soon the kitty was able to walkjump and play using all four paws.

The day Bastet went to live with the family that adopted her was bitter-sweet for her rescuer and foster mom, who took care of her for two years.
But at the same time she was so proud of the incredibles Bastet’s progresswho from an angry kitten who couldn’t walk had turned into an affectionate and active kitty, ready to start a new adventure surrounded by love and lots of cuddles.
