A polydactyl kitten with cerebellar hypoplasia learns to overcome her disability alongside her mother

Polydactyly is characterized by extra fingers. It is a congenital malformation which does not in any way interfere with the cat in its daily life. As for cerebellar hypoplasia, it sometimes results in deformity of the hind legs. These cannot then carry the baby, who must therefore crawl. This is what is achieved Summeran adorable kitten who learned to overcome her differences at the shelter.

Summer and his mother Sarasota arrived within the association specialized in atypical cases Alley Cat Rescuelocated in the state of Washington to United States.

The 2 felines were suffering from polydactyly which gives them a most endearing appearance. In addition, the little one also suffered from baby swimmer syndrome. His hind legs were wide apart and did not support the weight of his body. He therefore could not walk and crawled with difficulty.

Fortunately, the duo was placed with a foster family determined to support them. The objective was that Summer regains all his physical faculties so that he fully enjoys life.

As soon as they arrived, their benefactress began to practice daily massages and offered stretching exercises to Summer. “We rubbed his tendons and did some kinesiology sessions to help him. Sarasota kept watch and never took her eyes off her baby. Her gentleness and kindness greatly contributed to her metamorphosis.

“He got out of his playpen and started climbing on the cat trees. All of this exercise has been great and has helped him build muscle in his back legs.”said the Good Samaritan.

Today, Summer et Sarasota are happier than ever. The mother is extremely grateful and shows her affection every day. As for Summerhe now roams like any other kitten.
