A dog fell into a pit nearly 10 meters deep rescued by firefighters





Chewy endured a tough ordeal that thankfully, thanks to the town’s fire department, ended well. He is now recovering from his masters relieved and extremely grateful to the rescuers.











Angela et Bruce McCormick are the owners of Chewy, a young adventurous dog. The canine has the habit of wandering alone around the house located not far from Horse Cavein the State of Kentucky to United States.

Beginning of August 2022, Chewy did not return as usual. “We immediately understood that something was wrong”said Bruce at ABC 13 WBKO News.

The couple was devastated and searched for their faithful companion for days, in vain.

This weekend of August 20, a local resident who wanted to fill in a sinkhole heard barking coming from the bottom of the hole.

The man contacted Bruce who rushed to the scene. “I was stunned. He turned on a light and luckily it was my dog ​​alive”he specified.

A rescue of several hours

Angela et Bruce contacted the brigade of the fire department of Horse Cave. Which dispatched a specialized team as soon as possible.

Chewy must have been trapped for several days without water or food available.

“We have a member, Jason Poole, who does a lot of cave exploration. So I called him to come and help us.explained the chief operating officer Adam Sloan.

The man therefore equipped himself with a harness and descended into the narrow and deep cavity of nearly 10 meters.

“The puppy approached me for help and you could tell he was malnourished. I pulled it up with a sling”said the good Samaritan.

Happily, Chewy recovered very quickly. According to the wise advice of the veterinarian, Angela et Bruce rationed his food for the first few days so he wouldn’t get sick.

Today, he has regained his strength and his mischievous little personality once again delights his owners.

They are also very grateful to the rescue team who did a remarkable job in rescuing their 4-legged friend.
