Robbie Coltranebest known for playing the role of Hagrid in the series of Harry Potter, died on Friday 14 October. Since then, fans and colleagues have celebrated and remembered the actor.
Robbie has been described as a kind soula person who always took care of the people on set, either by listening to them in times of need, or by making them laugh in the most boring moments.
What kind of dog was Hagrid’s dog?
In the movies, Hagrid was a gamekeeper and it was a animal lover of all kinds: dragons, spiders, three-headed dogs …
But his most faithful companion was the Neapolitan mastiff Zannawho accompanied him everywhere and was also a fervent protector of the students of Hogwarts.
How many dogs have played the role of Fang in Harry Potter?
In fact, there have been several dogs who have played the role of Fang on set over the years. The best known are Hugowho played the role for i first 3 filmsand the rescue dog Monkeywhich worked from the fourth film onwards.
Just like Robbie, Monkey enjoyed entertaining everyone on set and enjoyed playing with an animatronic dragon as if it were a chew toy, covering it all in drool.
Hagrid and Fang, inseparable duo
As a dog lover and dog owner himself, Robbie really took a liking to Monkey and theirs feeling was visible on the set, so much so that he also shared the same sense of humor!
We will miss Robbie very much, but as he wonderfully stated in the reunion of Harry Pottertalking about the legacy of films in 50 years:
“I won’t be here anymore, sadly … but Hagrid will be.”
