The touching poem by an artist dedicated to Queen Elizabeth’s Corgi

Millions of people will not forget September 8, the day Queen Elizabeth II passed away, after more than 70 years devoted to the British crown.

This event has upset many balances and saddened entire nations, inspiring artists from all over the world to dedicate works or thoughts to her.

The life of Queen Elizabeth II has always been marked by the presence of one of the dog breeds he loved most: the Corgi. There longest-lived queen since she was a child she lived with these dogs that she loved very much: she has owned over 30!

Homage to the Queen and her Corgi

Savannah ‘savvydragon’ Art she is an artist who has always shared with her the same love for these wonderful animals. So in honor of them and the queen, she composed and shared a very touching poem on social media, which we report.

Not only her loved ones mourn her, but also her 3 inseparable corgi (and dorgi): for this reason the poem is written precisely from their point of view:

The lament of the Corgi

I woke up in my kennel the day after you left
I felt so sad and lonely, nowhere to sit.
I had no one to run to,
No morsels to be conquered with joy;
I had no plans for our walks now that you are no longer with me.
I know they will take care of me,
I know everything will be alright,
but you were my mistress,
And now I’m feeling left behind.
That your journey is peaceful is all I wish and pray,
Until one day we will be next to each other again,
Once again
.

Not just a poem!

It is so moving because it can be projected onto the feelings of any other dog that is forced to say goodbye to its owner, often without even a chance to say goodbye.
But the artist did not stop at poetry: his specialty in fact is not writing, but drawing caricatures and works of dogs.

Which ones in particular? Just the Corgi! And here the homage of him takes on an even deeper and more sincere meaning!

Congratulations to Savannah, she will have made the queen smile too! And here it is rhyme version in the original language, even more touching. What do you think?

“The corgi’s lament”

I woke up in my basket, the day after you’d gone.
I felt so sad and lonely, no lap to sit upon.
I had no-one to run to,
No treats to take with glee.
I had no plans for walkies, now you are not with me.
I know I’ll be looked after,
I know they will be kind.
But you were my true Mistress,
And I’ve been left behind.
I hope your journey’s peaceful and all I wish and pray,
Is I’ll be there beside you,
Once again one day.”
