Search dogs and handlers perform symbolic climb to commemorate 9/11 victims





To pay tribute to the victims and rescuers of September 11, 2001, a group of dog handlers and their search and rescue canine partners performed an exercise that was as physical as it was symbolic.










Yesterday Sunday September 11 was marked by the 21e sad anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001. Terrorist attacks which claimed the lives of thousands of people, planes having been hijacked to crash into the twin towers of the World Trade Center at New Yorkthe Pentagon close to Washington DCas well as a field in Pennsylvania.

Commemorations have taken place in various forms throughout the United States. Dogs also took part, such as those specialized in search and rescue missions, and belonging to the canine team of theAlabama Task Force-1 (AL-TF1 K9 Team).

At their training ground located at Mobilein the state of Alabama (South of the United States), several dog-handler tandems carried out an exercise loaded with symbolism in a metal structure made up of 6-storey stairs, reported WKRG.

They chained the ascents there until reaching the equivalent of the height of the towers of the World Trade Center. A test which put the muscles and the nerves of the duos to hard contribution, even if they are broken there.

According to theAKC (American Kennel Club), approximately 300 dogs and handlers had been deployed on Ground Zerothe site of the attacks.
