In the night between Sunday 5 and Monday 6 February the Turkey and the Syria have been hit by a very strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 with its epicenter in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. The tremors were even felt in Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus.

The rescued animals

From the tragedy of the earthquake that brought death and destruction to Turkey comes some news that gives hope.

This is the case of a long-haired, white cat that has been saved under the rubble of a shopping mall in Diyarbakir by teams from the Turkish gendarmerie.

The feline was visibly frightened and slightly injured, and, after receiving all the necessary care and being fed, is now in good health.

Local media show a gendarme holding the cat in his arms, which he clings to his savior. At the moment there is no information about its owners.
