Need to speak with a Vet Doctor?

Mom cancels her children’s Christmas to devote herself to her dog

When at Joel EatonBritish mother of two, was delivered one veterinary bill of £8,317 for his family’s beloved Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Buddyknew that the family would have to make some very difficult decisions.

And so Joely decided to cancel Christmas of her children, because her beloved dog needed her help!

Poor Buddy…

In accordance to reported by the local pressJoely took eight-year-old Buddy to the vet last October because he limped. He thought that perhaps he had had to make an awkward jump to climb over a fence, but unfortunately his suspicions were not correct: the dog had a bone cancer.

Joely was given the option to put Buddy to sleep, but Buddy wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet and went to get a second opinion from another vet who advised her to see a specialist.

Joely didn’t think twice, drove over 60km and took Buddy in for a CT scan which revealed the cancer hadn’t spread to his lungs, as previously suggested.

An invoice to pay

To recover, the dog would have to undergo a intervention to amputate the cancerous leg and six cycles of chemotherapyat a cost of £700 each. By doing so, Buddy’s life could be extended for another 18 months.

Buddy had surgery and is recovering well. But Joely now faces a salty account. The CT scan and surgery cost her £4,299, plus the cost of chemotherapy afterwards.

Joely knows that time with Buddy is priceless, but it has all come close to the Christmas period; so the mother had to tell her two children, aged seven and ten, that this year they will have to spend a very different Christmas than usual, because she will not be able to afford to pay for the usual food and gifts. Luckily, her children are like that happy to spend another Christmas with their four-legged friend Buddy who are not interested in Christmas presents!
