Labrador near worst after eating moldy bread, owners urge caution





The owners of an adorable dog named Indy thought he was lost, but he was taken to the veterinary emergency room in time. The animal had just eaten moldy bread, found in a random garbage bag on a walk in the mountains.











A Labrador Retriever had to spend 10 days in a veterinary clinic after being poisoned by moldy bread, reports the BBC.

Called Indythe 6-year-old black-robed dog accompanied his masters on a hike to the mountain site ofIlkley Moor in West Yorkshire (northern England). His owner Kerry Gibbons recounts that he had moved away briefly to sink into the undergrowth. She had followed him there to discover a garbage bag containing moldy bread.

The quadruped had just eaten it. Half an hour later, he was seized with tremors and almost lost consciousness. Indy was immediately taken to the veterinary emergency room.

At the clinic Ashlands Vetswe quickly realized thatIndy was suffering from poisoning, most likely caused by the fungi in the moldy food.

“One of the worst times of my life”

The dog remained there under observation for 10 days. He even had to be placed in an artificial coma, due to the intensity of his seizures. Fortunately, he survived and was able to return to his family.
