Italian owners experience mourning differently than in the rest of Europe

A pet is forever. But when life decides to take our four-legged friend away from us, the pain is unbearable. Almost every one of us, pet lovers, has, at least once, had to endure this suffering. And we have not always found the comfort of our friends and relatives.

That’s why we at Todocat have decided to talk about it with you, to allow each of you to have your say and understand how pet owners cope with grief.

And to do that we interviewed about 10,000 four-legged lovers between Italy, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Poland and we discovered some interesting data on the Bel Paese compared to other European countries.

Italians, people of misunderstood

Did you know, for example, that more than the 67% of the Italians does not have never posted on social networks a message in memory of your missing furry friend?

A reserved people, if you consider that in Spain and England more than 50% of owners have done so and in Germany 1 owner out of 3 does it.

But not just shyness: Italians, in fact, they feel misunderstood: more than80% of those interviewed said they find it difficult to talk about the death of their four-legged friend to people who do not have pets.

The pain of losing a pet, in fact, for almost the 93% of four-legged owners it is equivalent to the loss of a loved one; that’s why they accompany their furry friends to the end.

Never without Fido

L’85% of those who had to do suppress your pet, in fact, has made one’s presence felt until the end. Better than the Italians, only the Germans and the English; Spaniards, French and Poles, on the other hand, have less tendency to stay by the side of their four-legged friend until the end.

A positive note in all this, however, there is: almost 74% of Italians have taken an animal after the death of the last and in 59% of cases it was done less than 6 months after the lossa sign that each owner is committed to giving a better life to a new animal, even if he is still mourning the loss of his old best friend.
