In June 2020 the temperature was over 32 degrees in the mountains in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Areaa large US protected area.

That day, Lexie Daniel and his partner witnessed a heroic act that saved a dog’s life.

A dog with heatstroke

The couple were on a hike when they encounter a man whose dog was suffering from severe heat stroke.

They immediately offer him some water, but it doesn’t seem like enough to give the dog relief.

The owner himself was too exhausted to bring his dog, so he calls i rangers (equivalent of the forest rangers) to come and help him as soon as possible.

Il Ranger Kris Salapek arrives shortly after and carries the little dog on his shoulders to save him, out of the mountains.

A grueling rescue

The ranger carries the dog on his shoulder over a long distance, in a very rocky area.

When they arrive near a stream, the ranger dips the four-legged in water and pours water over his head to cool him down. After that, he picks it up again on his shoulders and sets out to take it back to the street.

The owner of the animal, who arrived shortly before his car, immediately got his dog into the car to take him to the veterinary first aid.

The happy ending

Lexie then posted photos of this trip to Facebook and the story went viral with thousands of shares. The ranger was a real hero!

“This ranger saved the dog’s life. He is a HERO. The animal probably wouldn’t have made it without him, ”Lexie writes on Facebook.

Fortunately, the dog is now much better and so is his owner! We can only admire the courage of this ranger and thank him for saving the little dog!

I need to make a huge shoutout to a park ranger at mt Tammany in NJ. His name is K Salapek. Upon heading back down from…
