The devastating earthquake that recently hit Turkey and Syria is also claiming victims among animals.
The volunteers The bad ones (International Organization for the Protection of Animals) traveled to the affected areas for rescue dogs and cats left with nothing.
Furthermore, from Italy the non-profit organization is organizing the distribution of food and other material to be delivered to animals in need.
Aid for the dogs and cats of Syria…
Unfortunately, there are many strays and animals that no longer have a home or points of reference, forced to wander in search of food or shelter among the rubble. Just look at their eyes to perceive all the suffering and loneliness.
“In just a few days we managed to have 450 kilos of food delivered to where we thought it would be more difficult to arrive, in Syria, a forgotten territory where too often strays are considered invisible,” explains Valentina Bagnato, head of international relations at Oipa International.
And he adds: «Another delivery is expected in the next few days in Aleppo, where local volunteers are doing their utmost to help us assist the four-legged ones.
“It is a race against time to alleviate the hunger of these animals in such a difficult moment, where even those who took care of them can no longer do it,” concludes Bagnato.
…and in Turkey
Also in Turkey, with the support of the local delegation and local volunteers, Oipa is weaving a solidarity network of aid that will reach the most needy areas.
“As in any tragedy, there are areas where deliveries are mostly conveyed, while others are left with little or nothing,” continues Valentina Bagnato. “We at Oipa are also dealing with these difficult territories and in these days we are organizing ourselves to reach Yarbasi, Adana, Elbistan, Adiyaman and Diyarbakir”.
