The occupants, including their dog, managed to evacuate the premises in time, but not their cat Nala. Under the influence of panic, the latter had escaped from the arms of her masters while they left the house in the grip of the flames. The feline rushed back inside.

The firefighters of Chandler Fire Department attacked the fire at the back of the house, while their colleagues from Brownsboro and of Smith were in charge of the front.

Fire troopers came in to look for Nala, which they ended up finding hidden under the bed in the parents’ room. She was losing consciousness from the smoke she had inhaled and the extreme heat.
