Gabrielle loves Maine Coon cats, how to blame her? I’m wonderful felines, among the largest in the world, with a long and very soft hair. So, determined to get one, she starts looking up internet.
She comes across an ad that seems perfect to her: there is a salesman in Taufkirchen, south of Munich, who has two kittens ready to be adopted.
The suspect
After a quick agreement the woman, very happy, takes the kitten home, but immediately begins to notice something strange: the little one refuses to eat. Worried, she goes to the veterinarianbut here he makes a terrible discovery.
There are many reasons why an animal can be inappetent: in this case, the cat was much smaller than the salesman had told her and she still needed mother cat’s care. The woman, horrified, tries to contact the salesperson for explanations and to try to save the other kitten. This, however, it seems disappeared into thin air.
The internet trap
Like Gabrielle, many people buy animals via the Internet, of any kind. We at Todocat we discourage this type of shopping: even if the description of the animal seems correct, there is none warranty that the animals are healthy, vaccinated or dewormed.
In many cases – as Gabrielle probably did – not even race the promise is authentic: often they are mestizos who are resold at disproportionate prices. Watch out for scams: if you really want to buy an animal, it is important to contact only certified breeders!
