Yesterday 20 December in the evening an explosion razed a two-storey house in Quarto d’Astiin Piedmont.
Firefighters pulled the 73-year-old owner alive from the rubble. Serious in the hospital are instead the son and a plumber.
The explosion
It had been days since he felt like a strong smell of gas inside the house.
Concerned, the homeowner had called in technicians to carry out some checks and a plumber to check for leaks.
Shortly after, a very strong bang, felt even from a distance.
At the scene, the police are investigating the cause of the accident. According to the first findings, it is not excluded that it may be one gas leak from the boiler room inside the house.
Dogs and cats rescued
At the site of the explosion, there were also dogs and cats trapped in the rubble. The four-legged friends were rescued by firefighters, some of whom remained burned.
Volunteers from the local kennel will take care of them.
This morning dogs and cats were also rescued from the rubble. Late yesterday evening, the man under the rubble was extracted alive, who remained in contact with the Usar teams. Carabinieri and Spresal investigate
