The time changes again: in the night between Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October we will have to move the hands back one hour. Generally, most people find the autumn time change very pleasant especially because you sleep an extra hour, but it is true that the days are getting shorter.
However this is not the case for animals which, being accustomed to a daily pace to be precise, they tend to experience this change very badly.
In anticipation of the transition from daylight saving time to winter time, here are a few advice.
What are the sources of stress?
Before discovering how to act to upset your animals as little as possible, it is good to understand what they are the main sources of stress.
To our eyes, these may seem trivial reasons, but delaying the time of the meal, the time of the walk and the time of cuddling by an hour causes a lot distress and confusion of the animal who will suddenly find himself not understanding the reason for this delay and perhaps experiencing it badly.
Helpful tips
To avoid a sudden change and upset cats and dogs, the ideal would be to start gradually change the routine already a few days before day X.
Since it is October 25th, therefore, you could start feeding your pet 10 minutes later the scheduled time (for example if you feed him at 8 pm, you will do it at 8.10 pm), the same thing on October 26 (he will eat at 8.20 pm) and so on every day, delaying another 10 minutes: arrived at October 30 in theory you would eat at 9pm, but with the time change it is 8pm and you will be back at your usual meal time!
Gradually changing the feeding, walking and resting times, the animal arrived on Sunday will not feel the change.
