A kitten abandoned in an open dump finds a new home with a garbage man who fell under his spell





The facts took place on August 30, 2022. A kitten of a few weeks old was unceremoniously abandoned in a garbage dump. Luckily, a Good Samaritan reached out to her and found her a family.











Steve Johnson is a sanitation worker at the landfill Rumpke of the canton of Colerainin the state of Pennsylvania to United States.

Tuesday, August 30, while he was going to the portable toilets placed near the rubbish, he heard weak mewings. After research, he came face to face with a kitten.

She was hiding and hissing in fear, but desperately needed help.

“She was very scared, but after a few minutes of patting her on the back, she calmed down. I am a big animal defender, I could not leave her to her sad fate”explained the rescuer to WhioTV.

Regain strength to start better

Steve therefore led his protegee to the company’s offices. The team took turns feeding her and healing her from a few superficial scratches.

Obviously, she was very hungry. She clung to the bottle with fervor.

Besides, his worries were gone. She had already understood that she was now safe and that she would never miss anything again.

Indeed, a colleague of Steve literally fell in love with her and decided to adopt her.

After much consideration, she was named Coco then moved to her warm new home where she has since flourished.

Steve returned to the scene of the discovery in search of the rest of his family, to no avail.

“Unfortunately, it’s an all too common scenario to find abandoned dogs or cats in our landfills. But luckily we have many animal lovers working here who have adopted them over the years”said Molly YeagerHead of Communications at Rumpke.
