a complaint was filed for abandonment

The 30 Million Friends Foundation continues to intervene in heartbreaking cases. Summer is indeed unfortunately synonymous with abandonment, but also with acts of negligence and mistreatment of animals. Thanks to their rescue operation and the benevolence of the partner shelter that took them in, they now benefit from the care they so desperately need.

Residents of the municipality of Brocourtin the Somme, alerted authorities on August 17, 2022 following excessive canine barking. The gendarmerie and investigators from the 30 Million Friends Foundation therefore intervened as soon as possible.

Upon arrival, officers were shocked by the animals’ appalling living conditions.

“Dogs were locked up 2 by 2 in cramped cages. They were in the heat, without shade.lamented Morgan of the rescue team before adding: “Inside the cages, it was horrific. They were bathed in their excrement, their vomit… It was mind-blowing”.

5 doggies were thus abandoned to their sad fate. In addition, the rescuers discovered 4 cats in a room without light in the house. Finally, 2 ferrets survived among this chaos.

An emergency rescue

The 5 canines were dehydrated, emaciated and suffered terribly from the heat. As for the felines, they were in the same state of underweight and were infested with external parasites.

The ferrets weren’t in better shape. “One, originally white, was yellow in color”clarified Morgan.

The 11 animals were therefore taken to the veterinary clinic and received care in a hurry. They were then entrusted to the refuge of Buigny-Saint-Macloupartner of the foundation, where they recover today.

Pet owners “saw absolutely nothing abnormal” in their way of taking care of them, according to the testimony of Morgan. They nevertheless agreed to give up their 5 dogs, 4 cats and 2 ferrets to the 30 Million Friends Foundation.

She said a complaint for abandonment would be filed in the coming days. The survivors will be offered for adoption as soon as their condition allows it.
