Authorities have received a report of an elderly dog being abused and neglected by its owner. When they arrive, they discover a canine in very poor condition. He is currently recovering in shelter before looking for a new home for his old age.
On August 3, 2022, the 30 Million Friends Foundation recounted the rescue of this 14-year-old Labrador Retriever. The organization and the security forces intervened in the town of Maizicourt in the department of Somme following reports from residents concerned about the canine.
“We were reported to a dog in very poor condition. Once there, we are told that the master had been absent for 15 days. He would have only made a few passages. Neighbors sent food. And the poor guy was really skeletal”said Morganinvestigator for the 30 Million Friends Foundation.
The gendarmes were terrified when they saw the unfortunate man lying in the sun on the asphalt of a courtyard. They therefore ordered a judicial requisition.
Due to his advanced age, the deaf doggie could not hear the calls of the rescuers. He was taken out of his hell and taken to safety.

A worrying state of health
The Labrador, renamed Grandpa by the rescue team, was extremely thin and dehydrated, so that he could barely stand. Furthermore, his medical certificate indicated that he had been in an advanced state of malnutrition for some time, that he had amyotrophy (decrease in the volume of the muscles) and severe cachexia throughout the body (loss of adipose tissue ).
“His body condition is rated 1/9”said the foundation.
Likewise, Grandpa was infested with fleas and had heart disease. He therefore receives daily veterinary care at the refuge of Buigny-Saint-Macloupartner of the 30 Million Friends Foundation.

The golden age doggie has already gained 4 kilograms thanks to an adapted diet and has regained his joy of living. “He ran everywhere with happiness and wanted to discover everything. He’s a lovely dog, a cream”told Morgan glad to see him like this.
The 30 Million Friends Foundation filed a complaint for abandonment with aggravating circumstances against its owner, who will therefore have to answer for his actions in court.
