1. They eat gourmet meals

Have you ever wondered if the Queen’s dogs eat “normal” dog food? Well, the answer is absolutely no! The royal puppies they have their own chef who cooks high-end delicacies such as beef tenderloin and chicken breast.

A new menu is created every day for these lucky puppies and fresh ingredients are used. What lucky dogs!

2. They took a daily walk with the Queen

After the royal pups had lunched, the queen took the entire pack for a stroll in the Buckingham Palace gardens. Their first walk was in the morning and was done by a servant dedicated to them!

3. The Queen took her puppies very seriously

An employee of the building is said to have been demoted from his position after adding gin and whiskey to dog food with a view to making a joke.

Unsurprisingly, Her Majesty didn’t see the funny side and kept the man away from his beloved puppies since then.

4. The puppies are given Christmas stockings

Whenever she could, she took her puppies with her when she traveled and allegedly hid her first Corgi, Susan, in the open carriage she boarded with Prince Philip on their wedding day!

6. Room dedicated to them

Dogs have their own room at Buckingham Palace: the Corgi Room! The puppies have comfortable dog beds as well as fresh linens every day. This lavish tradition is thought to have been initiated by the Queen’s mother.

7. Queen Elizabeth protected her Corgi at all costs!

In 1999, the Queen is thought to have gone to the hospital and had three stitches after having stopped a fight among his beloved Corgi. Those pups clearly didn’t know who they were dealing with!

8. There is a royal cemetery for the Queen’s dogs

His first dog was Susan buried at Sandringham Estate and all his other puppies followed suit. The tradition was started by Queen Victoria who buried her beloved Rough Collie there.

The Queen even has tombstones made for each of the dogs, on Susan’s is engraved:
